Guide
Leon is an assassin with long range but not really, his damage drop off at max range is awful so getting kills at max range is difficult. Leon prefers to hide in bushes and get the jump on his opponents with his absurd damage up close even after the nerfs.Overview:
Leon prefers bushy maps and maps where snipers and throwers are still playable and reasonable to pick but will still have a hard time shutting you down. Once you have a super cycling it between kills is very easy since unloading someone with max damage is a guaranteed super. You should try to jump brawlers that struggle up close, where Leon thrives like snipers and throwers. If there are multiple squishy brawlers chaining between them for a kill streak and potentially a team wipe if the final opponent is reasonable for you to kill. You should try to never super out in the open so try to super from bushes or from within your gadget. If you super for healing you shouldn’t shoot and stay in the super until you’ve healed enough to Fight safely. Moving left when you shoot will space the blades closer and maximize damage at a distance and moving right is great for checking bushes or hitting multiple people at once. Switching between the two is mainly up to you but if your opponents have grouped up the second option is better, likewise if you need to finish someone off the first option is better.Gadgets:
Lollipop drop is better for 3v3 because it give your teammates invisibility as well as giving you an option for supering in the open. Clone projector is better in bushy maps where you can jumpscare supers and gadgets out of people making getting your kill easier. The map and mode dictate the better pick but it really doesn’t matter.Star powers:
Invisiheal is better because it heals really well if you need it to stay alive or heal up to survive a risky attack. Smoke trails is also good and makes making plays and travelling further in your super easier. Its preference to a certain degree but invisiheal is the better option for high level.Gears:
Speed gear is great because Leon is played on bushy maps so more speed is something he will benefit from. The mythic gear is key because it will extend your time to make plays along with your hypercharge duration. Shield is what you play on maps with less bushes since the speed won’t be that useful.Counters:
Any close range counter like Shelly or Jacky are not a good choice for Leon to attack because they punish being in too close. Snipers are an awkward matchup because if you can’t dodge well you’ll be eaten alive by a good player but if you can’t dodge well the matchup isn’t as harsh but not great still. Throwers are a problem until you get your super because they can’t really receive damage but they are severely weak up close, which is where your super will get you.
Game Modes
Brawl Ball
Leon is great goal scorer because he can get in behind for free for easy goals and can demolish squishy brawlers that support their teammates with damage
Hot Zone
Leon is great for attacking the opposing zone and stopping people from reaching the zone. He has good matchups into most good hot zone brawlers
Knockout
Leon can get early kills which at the highest level are essentially wins. He can sneak into places where he’s incredibly dangerous and difficult to deal with
Bounty
Same as knockout
Works Well With
Belle
Belle can deal with brawlers Leon struggles with and is great for helping with aggressive plays.
Chester
On maps where tanks are great Chester and Leon can melt tanks quickly and have free wins as a duo against any tank
