Guide

About me:I am a casual Brawl Stars player with Surge at Rank MAX. I am a Surge main and I have pushed him in Solo Showdown mainly, but I have also played ranked matches with him.My previous detailed Surge guide:https://www.noff.gg/brawl-stars/build/6391/the-only-in-depth-surge-soloduo-showdown-guide-you-will-ever-needThat detailed guide covers all the important aspects of surge before his nerf. I recommend reading that guide before this one as it covers some aspects I will not mention in this guide. What I aim to do with this guide:
Expand on my previous guide and provide additional tips and tricks to master Surge after his nerf. Provide detailed facts and explanations about his nerf and current status.

What did this nerf do to Surge?
The nerf reduced Surge's hp by 600, meaning he went from 6600hp to 6000hp. This means his survivability and overall strength has majorly decreased. How does this affect Surge's gameplay? This nerf will cause Surge to die easier meaning you cannot engage on your opponents as quickly and aggressively: you must play it more safe. How to play Surge in Solo Showdown after his nerf:Tip 1.) Play it safe. Before the update, you could engage many enemies without suffering consequences such as death. Now, since his hp is lower, you must avoid counters and dangerous situations at all costs.Tip 2.) Know your counters. This is very important as it could mean the difference between life or death. Counters to Surge include:
•Any long range brawler with high damage output (Piper, Bea, Angelo etc.) They outrange Surge and can kill Surge before he is close enough to hit shots.
•Stu - his mobility and range makes him hard to hit.
•Sandy - invisibility and stun gadget make him a counter to Surge.
•Grom - long range, throwing ability and damage makes him counter to Surge
•Colt - high range and damage can make him a counter.
•Melody - longer range and mobility makes her hard to hit.
•Other brawlers that have either high DPS, range or mobility can counter Surge.Tips 3.) Farm super and levels on brawlers that Surge counters. His stages are the most important things that make Surge strong: without them, he is countered by the majority of brawlers. The brawlers countered by Surge include:
•Any short ranged tank (Bull, Jacky etc.) Surge can outrange them and push them back with his super.
•Shelly - Surge outranges her and can push her back if she is too close with her super. His gadget can also tank some hits if needed.
•Mortis - Surge can simply use super and gadget, overpowering Mortis with an increased DMG + knock back.Tip 4.) Use gadget effectively. First shoot at least 2 attacks before using your gadget at it reloads 2 ammo. Use gadget on high dmg brawlers as it halfs the damage received from one shot. Conclusion:By following the tips above, you should master Surge and reach any rank you want , even after Surge's nerf. Again, I would advise reading my previous guide first, as it includes more tips and covers other essential aspects of Surge.Note: this guide, along with the other belongs to me and should not be redistributed by anyone else. :)

Works Well With

Buzz

Buzz

Buzz stuns, Surge finishes. Great way to farm super. It is also good for assassinating key brawlers and controlling key positions.

Kit

Kit

Kit jumps, Surge finishes. Again, great way to farm super. Kit can also jump on Surge to heal and help Surge push up the map.

Gus

Gus

He can help Surge push the enemy team by placing shield on Surge. Good combo since it gives Surge the extra hp needed to playore aggressively.

Buster

Buster

Buster shields Surge, allowing him and the team to push forwards. While shielded, Surge can farm his super and upgrades.
