Guide

Disclaimer
I am not an Edgar Main. Nor do I know much about Edgar. An Edgar Main or someone who knows Edgar very well knows him more than I do. Please don't fully trust everything I say about Edgar. I do have a question that I want you to think about, which will be at the end.
Let's dive in, enjoy 🥰.📚Overview of Edgar📚
To know a brawler's counter, you MUST understand the brawler first. This isn't an Edgar guide, so I will not fully detail like I did in my Angelo guide.Edgar is a high-mobility, melee assassin🐱‍👤. His movement speed is very fast, normal for an assassin. He has moderate health, also normal for an assassin. He has a trait that lets him charge his super over time. For his attack, Edgar throws out two short-ranged, piercing punches from his scarf. Hitting enemies with your attack heals you. His attack range is very short. His attack speed and reload speed are very fast.
For his super, Edgar leaps into the air and over obstacles to where you aim it. The Super range is normal, reaching about 7 tiles.Edgar is deadly if you're not knowledgeable about how to counter him. IF you don't know. That is why Edgar isn't played in pro matches, as pros know how to counter Edgar. Edgar is stuck to a playstyle, finding a way to sneak up to your enemy with your super and hopefully run them down. His weaknesses are quite a pity😅.💀His Weaknesses💀
Edgar has a couple of weaknesses that, if known, could make Edgar useless. There they are:Low Health🧽: I know I said that Edgar has moderate health, but he can still get destroyed. He's too squishy to deal with high burst damage.Short Range🏹❌: Edgar has one of the shortest attack ranges in the game. That is the Biggest Red Flag🚩 I've ever heard(Coming from a Sniper Simp😍), so he can easily get countered by long-range brawlers if he doesn't have super.Dependence on his Super😫: Speaking of his super. He needs it to be able to complete his role as an assassin. He relies on his super TOO MUCH. It's his only way of safely and quickly getting to the enemy, so if he doesn't have it, he's a sitting, useless duck until he has it.Predictable Playstyle⌚: Due to his weakness, this causes Edgar players have a predictable playstyle. Of course, there might be some differences depending on the player, but generally, Edgar players wait until they get super, then find a target, then surprise and assassinate them. It's easy to predict, and it's not like Edgar has a choice. He has too many weaknesses.Anti-Assassin Abilities🛡: Some brawlers have abilities that just counter Edgar. For example, R-T. He was as if he was made to counter Edgar, as he can easily turn into his split form and burst him down. All of his weaknesses add up, resulting in him being easily counterable.Who counters Edgar?Generally, Edgar gets countered by his class(Assassins), Tanks, Damage-Dealers, and Anti-Tanks. But let's name a few brawlers:Bull🐂: High Health, High Burst damage up close. Edgar doesn't stand a chance.Stu🎆: He has more range than him, and can easily dodge him using his super. Stu is too agile for Edgar to handle.Gale❄: Has more range, has anti-assassin abilities. Edgar doesn't stand a chance.Shelly🔫: High Burst damage, chaining super. Edgar wouldn't jump into a Shelly unless you dared him to.R-T📻: High health yet High Range, a form that can shred him if he dares to jump on him, and a gadget that gives him super. I'm so proud🥰.That's enough, but I think you get the idea. High Burst damage, or higher range, and most importantly, anti-assassin abilities are what a brawler should have to counter Edgar.
What I mean by anti-assassin abilities are abilities that either stop the assassin from reaching you, punish them for diving, and/or let you survive the burst and counterattack.Tips when facing EdgarWhen there's an Edgar in the lobby, see if they are good or bad. We all know Edgar players, so we have to know if they would jump on a Shelly with super or not😂.
Once you've seen how the Edgar Players play, then know what brawlers you're using. If you're like a thrower, stay as far away from Edgar as possible. Don't let him find you🤐. But if you're a brawler that counters Edgar, don't be afraid; instead, save some abilities for when Edgar tries to get you.If you need to run from Edgar, try and position yourself on a more open map, while maintaining distance. Also, if you have the range, use it to land some shots on him. Then find someone who can counter him, and lead Edgar to them(would be easier if it's your teammate).Showdown-wise, you should be playing a brawler that counters assassins like Edgar, else you're cooked. It's the showdown.
As of 3v3, coordinate with your teammates and protect/hide with your teammates, depending on whether you can counter Edgar or not.One Final Question
Feel free to skip this part and leave, as this is the end of the guide. If you want to see the question and think about it, feel free to stay. Is Edgar a skilled brawler? If I’m being honest, I’d argue that Edgar truly shines as a skilled brawler primarily in higher trophy ranges. At lower tiers, he often feels like a no-skill option, where inexperienced players simply fail to counter him effectively. However, once you reach higher trophy lobbies, things change drastically. Players become more strategic and knowledgeable, adept at recognizing Edgar's vulnerabilities and exploiting them. In competitive settings, the stakes are higher: a single misstep can render an Edgar player virtually useless to their team, or worse, lead to an early exit in Showdown. What sets apart the best Edgar players is their ability to adapt. In these challenging environments, they must exercise caution, make tactical decisions, and creatively navigate around Edgar's weaknesses. As they gain experience, they become not just better players but highly skilled competitors.I hope you've enjoyed my guide, and I hope you now know how to counter Edgar. Now that I think of it, this guide may make Edgar players' lives a lot harder. But that is their problem. Continue being the Emo Boy Eliminator.
