Guide

Overview 🚀Mortis is a Mythic Assassin with great Mobility and solid health. (7600 HP) His attack lets him dash (2 tiles) forward with his scythe, slicing enemies for 2000 damage. 🗡️ If you chill for 4.5 seconds, you'll get a longer dash (4 tiles) as a bonus. As for his Super, Mortis sends out vampire bats for a long range, which can deal 1800 damage, and heal you for 2245 HP. As for the Hypercharge, it's basically a teamwipe machine. The bats fly out and come back, doubling the damage and healing. You blink, you die!
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────Story & LoreI am a creature of the night! 🌒
Mortis is one of the most mysterious Brawlers in the game. He’s confirmed to be a vampire and a mortician—someone who prepares bodies after death. Sadly for him, no one actually dies in Starr Park! He owns a spooky mortuary where he lives with Frank, his roommate. Mortis is confirmed to be Emz’s uncle, too. He holds a grudge agaist Colt, and his biggest rival is Dynamike, Just like in-game!🎮
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────Best Build 🛠️Discover the best kit for becoming the true Creature of the wall night! 🌃Gadget: Survival Shovel.
Both gadgets are awesome, but Survival Shovel is overall better. 👑 With a 16s cooldown, it boosts reload speed for 4s—perfect for nonstop dashing, clutch escapes, wild engages, or teamwipes. Just tap it and let the chaos begin! But don’t sleep on Combo Spinner—it deals 2000 splash damage, great for finishing weak Brawlers or hitting groups with zero ammo, and with a 10s cooldown, you can spam it like crazy!Sooo...
- If you’re a pro who reacts at every moment like a chess master, go for Survival Shovel. 😎
- If you’re chasing that Rank Max dream, Combo Spinner might just carry you there! 🏆Star power: Coiled Snake.
No match—Coiled Snake is the way to go! It lets Mortis charge his longer dash twice as fast, giving him more surprise potential. You’ll be able to zoom into fights, control the map, and catch enemies off guard better. Perfectly suiting for aggressive play style and mode. The other star power? Naaah... the healing is barely noticeable and it doesn't give as much value as the other. 🐍Gears: Damage + Bat Storm.
Mortis' Damage is not so impressive, so, the Damage Gear gives Mortis the extra punch to pull off clutch plays and, as a bonus, even boosts the healing from his super. On the other hand, Bat Storm is a no-brainer allowing you to chain supers more easily— especially when paired with Hypercharge. You may also consider the sheild gear, as it provides more tankiness and makes engages a little bit safer. It's your choice! 🦇
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────Stengths & Weeknesses 🌪️Let’s take a look at Mortis' role, why would you consider picking him in competitive play, and how he competes in the current META.## Strengths 💪1. Mobility.
Of course, the reason y'all love this dude is his Dashes. What can mobility grant you? better positioning, safer escapes, easier gap-closing, faster ambushes, full map access, easier dodging/juking, and increased pressure! His ability to move freely across the map allows him to outmaneuver many kids. 💨2. Teamwiping Potential.
Thanks to his piercing attack, wide-hitting super, and powerful hypercharge, Mortis has the ability to teamwipe entire teams with ease. His super can be chained effectively when enemies are grouped, and his hypercharge greatly amplifies his elimination power. A teamwipe can completely turn the tide of a match, giving your team the upper hand in everything.## Weaknesses 🥀1. Zero Defense. Compared to most brawlers, Mortis has low overall damage. He can’t consistently eliminate enemies quickly or hold map control. He also lacks the range and firepower needed to zone out enemies or threaten them from a distance. To make things even worse, His reload speed is one of the slowest in the game. When threatened, he often has no choice but to run away like a scaredy cat!2. Squishiness. Mortis is a high-risk, high-reward brawler. For someone who constantly dives into enemies, his health is relatively low. Because with no durability, Mortis can easily be eliminated when engaging high-damage opponents. This makes him squishy and unreliable in the bad randoms' hands. That being said, a Pro Mortis knows when to engage and when not to. TL;DR: Don't play mortis Tomar753! 🙄──
Mortis struggles a little bit at keeping up with the current META, placing him in the Low B/ High C Tier. He has many hard counters that can easily demolish him making him a risky early pick. And as more mobility and damage dealing brawlers are added to the game, Mortis becomes less valuable since there are better altrerantive picks. (Alliiiiiiii the Aligaaaaator) 🐊 Still, his hypercharge is absolutely busted and can turn the tide of the match in seconds, which makes him still considerable.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────Pro Tips & Tricks 🔥Stop yapping about becoming Rzm|64, and focus on these tips instead! 🧠#1. Juke, Bait & Annihilate ⚔️
Thanks to Mortis' insane mobility, you can easily bait out enemy gadgets, supers, and attacks by faking your movements. 🏃 A quick dash forward followed by a retreat often causes enemies to panic and go full on button mash mode. Sometimes, simply walking toward them in a zigzag without dashing applies pressure—they expect you to dash any second, so they preemptively waste thier shots. It’s all about patience, timing, and Knowing when to engage. 😏#2. Control Positions 🎛️
Mortis’ dashes give him crazy mobility, So use them to secure early control. 🚀 Dash into key areas at the start to outpace your opponents and claim crucial positions, As early positioning can set the tone for the whole game. You can also sneak into enemy territory to create pressure; if they chase, they waste time—if not, you charge your Super and corner them. Whether it’s grabbing the ball, picking up gems, or snatching the blue star in Bounty—Mortis gets there first. Just don’t get too greedy! 🍞#3. Think Before Dashing 🧠
Before you dash, always check your enemy’s health bar. 📊 Keep in mind how many shots it takes to defeat the enemy, and avoid those that require more than four. Also, pay attention to your enemy’s ammo count. Try to predict their reload speed—wait until they’re low on shots, then strike. Avoid brawlers with high burst damage, deadly ability or stuns like the plague. Try to manage you ammo accordingly, and avoid comitting unnecessary dashes. And finally… make sure your internet isn’t lagging when it’s go-time! 🌐#4. Execute Deadly Team-wipes 🌀
Mortis’ Super is your golden ticket to wiping the whole squad—so charging it up is your top priority. Once your Super is ready, it’s showtime! Find a juicy lineup of enemies, pop your gadget, and dash into the nearest unlucky opponent—we’ll call them the Charger. 🔋 Ideally, this Charger is strong enough to not die right away but weak enough not to kill you mid-teamwipe. (Rosa, Buster) Dash in, pop your Super to heal the damage taken, then keep dashing around the enemies around like a purple tornado of doom until everyone’s gone. 🌪️#5. Choose the Perfect Map 🗺️
Maps play a huge role in bringing out Mortis’ true potential. if possible, you're looking for a more open map that gives you the freedom to move around, pressure enemies from different angles, and always have an escape route. 💨 In contrast, closed or cramped maps severely limit your options since now enemies can predict you more easily. Worst of all, you might end up dashing straight into a wall… and make it pergnant! 😆 You're also looking for a map with some bushes, as they grant you invisibility. (aka unpredictability) Finally, it's better to have some walls too, as they can help hold your position and block enemy projectiles very well.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────Play Styles & Roles 🎮I am not going to tell you to play mortis in a specefic way, as Mortis can work in any Play Style. However, here are some interesting and valuable ways for you to play Mortis as:XX- The Scavenger -XX 🚮Okay lol I picked the worst name possible but anyways! Don't be ashmed to clean up after intense fights! As an assassin, Mortis excels at chasing and finishing off weak or low-health enemies. It always works to thrid-party and surprise exhausted enemies as they have no options against you in their current state. So, Mortis is particularly effective at punishing vulnerable and out-of-position targets.Aggressive or Passive? 🤔The answer is, It depends. Mortis’ playstyle should shift based on the mode and matchups. In fast-paced modes like Brawl Ball or when facing favorable matchups, go aggressive—apply pressure, secure kills, and go for teamwipes. But in slower, control-based modes like Gem Grab, or against tough counters, a passive approach works best. Be patient, hold position, and wait for the perfect opening. Sometimes, a one well-timed played can turn the tide of things, so, play it like a mind game. 🧠
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────Using Auto-Aim 🕹️It's important for you to know how to use Auto-aim, and when to use it. First off, I gotta say that Auto-aim is bad. It can often lead you to dashes you didn't plan to and are absolutely unnecessary, and at most scenarios will result in your death. Sometimes, you may end up dashing into the wall, and melting your ammo. So for auto-aiming the attack, make sure there are no nearby opponents and turrets except your target. You may use auto-aim, but never spam it, 'cause spamming will lead to consuming all ammo unnecessarily. 🔫 Instead, click only 2 times on the attack button, and save the last for any sudden move the opponent commits. As for auto-aiming the super, it's bad in every scenario. Your super is the most important tool in your kit, it takes some time to charge and can provide you with splash damage and healing. Auto-aiming it will only effect the enemy you're on, and you won't get any advantage of others. SO NEVER DO IT. 🙅‍♂️ The only time you're considering is in Showdown where there's no team to begin with. But still, are you really playing mortis in Showdown bro?As for the Hypercharge? Ahem, well, IF YOU HAVE EVER AUTO-AIMED YOUR HYPERCHARGE IN YOU LIFE, THEN... Let me check Griff's voicelines, oh yeah here it is... GET OUT! 😝
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Brawler Interactions ⚔️Mortis is all about dueling, so, let’s see how you should performs against some brawler classes, starting with the ol' 1v1 duel—Mortis vs. Morris!Vs. Mortis 🦇Facing another Mortis can be tricky, As if you're facing your evil twin. Before engaging, make sure your ammo is full, your health is maxed, your super is ready, and your reload gadget is active. However, your clone likely has the same, so let’s not yap too much here. 😑 Here are the 3 key tips for you to outmaneuver the enemy Mortis:- Always stay close to walls when dashing—this minimizes your dash delay and allows you to react and deal damage faster than your opponent.- Start the holy duel by dashing first onto the enemy Mortis. After that, don’t immediately dash back. Let him hit you while you reload. This not only regains your lost ammo quicker but also activates your damage gear earlier than him, giving you more DPS and more healing for your super.- Aim your super to hit the enemy Mortis and nearby enemies if possible. This maximizes healing and can even help you chain another super. At the same time, don't let the enemy Mortis charge his super off of you. 🔁Vs. Tanks 🛡️Most tanks are a red light for you. Their high health, heavy close-range damage, and ability to absorb your entire combo like a sponge (Remember Frank's Star Power?) without going down make them hell difficult to deal with. 🧽 However, some of them, such as Rosa and Buster, aren't capable of dealing that much damage. This will be helpful for you to make a teamwipe. So as you dash on Rosa, start a teamwipe and make her a Super recharger for you. 🔄There are also other tanks Such as Frank and Bibi, who require some delay to unload their shots. This will be very useful giving you a bit of time to dash behind them and avoid damage entirely. Make sure you are at point blank, and dash through them not away. The thing is, you need good timing, As by time, you will be out of ammo and Frank's attack will have less delay, So, here's where your Super will come in handy. Just make sure not to panic and Auto-aim it. Patience is the key! ⏳Vs. Assassins 🗡️Assassins, Mortis' class, are all with high mobility and massive DPS, so most of them aren't matchups you are seeking, really. 🙄 Let's see how you should be reacting against some of them:- Edgar is a pain in the Glass. His high DPS along with his life-stealing allows him to shred your health bar quickly and recover mid-fight. So, your only consistent option is to chip away at him by dashing in and dashing out. During that, you might make him bait out his Gadget, as well as slowly charge your super. Only engage when Edgar has below 4000 HP and is reloading, that’s your opportunity to finish him with two quick dashes—followed by your super if needed. Tip: Always use your super on multiple targets. ✨- Kenji is similar to Mortis in design, but with one dangerous addition: lifesteal. His ability to heal while battling makes him extremely unpredictable, and any calculations you had is now unreliable. 😬 You'll also have to keep in mind that his Star Power reduces the first dash's damage, so, you should never engage while his shield is active. With 7,600 HP, add in the healing, and you'll be needing five dashes to get rid of him, Dammit!- Buzz is a hybrid between a tank and an assassin, 2 classes that are not favorable for Mortis. Against Dino, your first step is to bait out his Super. It's easy to do so, as "the thing he has in his hand" is thin and can be dodged easily. Buzz requires five dashes to be eliminated at full health, so you're gonna need to spam your gadget to reload the 5th one, as the 4th one would have likely been reloaded during the time between dashes. The problem is, once he gains his Super, you're dead. (Mortis gameplay be like: 📐e = ∑∞ⁿ⁼⁰ ¹ₙ🤓)Vs. Spawners 🐻There is nothing called spawners, so who the hell am I kidding? Jessie, Nita and Penny. These three brawlers are all known for having amazing splash damage, but poor burst damage potential. Against them, you should never ever use Auto-aim, as you'll end up wasting a dash into a turret that deals heavy damage. That said, if they don't have Super, go for them. If they have it, then play it smatly and slaughter them. 🔪Vs. Throwers 🧨Surprisingly, this type is not your best matchup, and that's because of Supercell. The hell throwers being released nowadays are all with defensive abilities, that they are never meant to have. Let's take a look at Juju: She has a 7800 HP turret that can deal damage and slow you down, She has a broken gadget to shield her and give her speed, and she has a water-walking trait with a slowing attack. Now you know that a fricking thrower counters you, instead of being countered. 😠Old throwers, on the other hand, are your natural preys. 🐇 They all have a delayed attack, and no defensive abilities. Against them, don't be so crazy and just chase. First, get above the thrower and be patient, wait for him to waste an attack, then start killing him. A thrower matchup can help you charge your Super and Hyper effectively as well as allow you to pressure the enemy team and confine them.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Gameplay Strategy 🌌Map: Backyard Bowl 📍Combo: Bea + Gale + Mortis──
Mortis - The Finisher 🦇At the start of the match, scan the enemy comp and identify your easiest matchup—that’s your lane. Mortis should never go mid, and on this map, the left lane suits him best. Your top priority early on is charging your Super, so look for safe opportunities or rely on teammate openings. If things are bad, just wait and hide behind the indestructible wall near you.Gale - The guardian ❄️Gale is Mortis’ most loyal bodyguard and one of his best synergies. He hard-counters many of Mortis' worst matchups and excels at controlling his lane, thanks to his cheesy pushs and knockbacks. As Gale, try to take the matchup Mortis struggles with most, distracting the counter and neutralizing the lanes. If your lane hides behind the one-walled wall, that's perfect for wall-peeking him.Bea – The Controller 🐝Bea brings what Mortis lacks—range, damage, defense and control, makeing her the perfect synergy. She is perfect at holding the mid lane, and her damage will force enemies to retreat, softning them for Mortis to kill. Your gadget also helps uncover opponents hiding behind the walls. In addition, you may help your teammates in their lanes while you're having a charge shot, which can be a damage out of nowhere to the enemies.
───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Aaaaaaand That's it! 🎉
So, we finally came to an end, and I gotta say, if you made it till here, Congratulations, you are a true Mortis main! To be honest, I tried to add some humor so that my guide is less boring, while I also wanted it to be serious and professional, but I ended up doing both, So did I cook? 👩🏻‍🍳Thank you for reading anyways! 😉Guide Made By: M7X-Hacker 😎 - Tag: #J2GCPLJUC 💕

Game Modes

Brawl Ball

Brawl Ball

#1. Brawl Ball - 10/10Generally, Mortis excels at every ball mode, as they all require Mortis' best strengths: Mobility & teamwipe potentail. Brawl Ball is a fast-paced mode as well, which fits Mortis' playstyle perfectly. Your main role here is to be a Distractor—burn the enemy’s ammo, pressure them into corners, and leave the action for your teammates. At the same time, you may also be a Scorer, using your long dash to steal the ball, dribble past defenders, or wipe the team for a clean shot on goal. 🥅 On defense, though, Mortis regrets his life choices. If you dash at enemies to deal damage, you 'll leave your goal wide open. Instead, try finding walls near the enemy and dash to it. No walls? Just stay close to the enemy, and if they are confident (stupid) enough to shoot it, Make a quick dash for the save. Sadly, if the enemy is not an Edgay, they will just walk-it in... 😐Best Maps: 1. Backyard Bowl 2. Pinball Dreams 3. Spiraling Out.

Gem Grab

Gem Grab

#2. Gem Grab - 7/10 💎Gem Grab is not the perfect mode to unleash Mortis' full potential, but even tho, his Hypercharge is a game changer. In Gem Grab, Mortis shines as an Assassin, perfect for picking off squishy enemies that are common in this mode. Plus, you're less likely to run into hard counters like Shelly—nice! 😌 Whatever you do, don’t be the gem carrier. Holding gems stops you from diving in, and Mortis is all about risky, high-impact but rewarding plays. Dashing, tanking damage, and maybe... just maybe... clutching a Team-wipe! And hey—if you spot 10 gems on the ground… grab ’em and run for your life like a legend for 15 secs! 💨Best Maps: 1. Double Swoosh 2. Last Stop 3. Hard Rock Mine.

Bounty

Bounty

#3. Bounty - 6/10 💥Bounty is a matchups paradise for Mortis, that is, most of the brawlers played in this mode are Snipers and throwers. 🤩 But what's holding it from a higher ranking are 2 things: 1. The mode itself doesn't favor aggressiveness, and 2. The possibility to face a hard counter. In Bounty, Mortis plays the role of your secret weapon—the Trump Card! 🃏 You’ll need to stay patient, wait for the perfect moment, then strike with precision. Going aggressive too early risks giving away your stars and throwing the game! Focus on picking off squishy, isolated targets and building pressure. And finally, pop your Hypercharge to end the match.Best Maps: 1. Layer Cake 2. Dry Season 3. Brace for Impact

Showdown

Showdown

#4. Solo Showdown - 5/10 🌵Mortis struggles in Solo Showdown due to his low damage and poor survivability. The meta here favors tanks and tank-counters—Mortis’ worst matchups. 👎 While his mobility gives him some value, he's still not a great pick, ranking about 5/10. I don't reccomend pushing Morris here, but if you're SZGUSTA, then shift your playstyle: avoid charging your super, don’t take unnecessary risks, and instead rely on ambushes and smart camping. 🔪 Focus on picking off easy targets and third-partying fights—let others do the heavy lifting, and swoop in to clean up!Best Maps: 1. Double Trouble 2. Rockwall Brawl 3. Mystical thirty three.
