Guide
With Cord mains becoming common nowadays especially in ranked, I'm going to make a short guide on how master him the proper way, instead of the average bad random build.Stats-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Health: 6800
Damage: 1600
Mobility: Very fast
Reload Mobility: 1.2 seconds (Very fast)
Range: 9 (medium)Tips--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- In ranked, Cord is best chosen on fast paced game modes like brawl ball and brawl hockey so always consider him as a pick or ban in these modes.
- If there is a thrower comp (EX: Berry, Willow, Barley or Larry, etc) choose Cord as he can deal with those brawlers quite well if there are no more meta aggro brawlers for picks. Just be careful of Juju.
- Even though Cord may seem good, his two biggest weaknesses are his health, and short range so play backseat most of the time until the enemy makes a positioning mistake.
- Cord is solid into most tanks, but don't always pick him into every single tank comp because tanks like Ollie, Ash, and Buster have certain mechanics that can counter Cord well so choose him into the weaker outdated tanks like Primo and Bibi.
- Make sure to use his super wisely, similar to Gene's it's a very golden asset that turn the tide of a game so use it during the right moment.
- His super is not only used for ambushing enemies but you can use it to dip out of dangerous situations (if you don't have jump gadget)
- To get an accurate kill use Cord's gadget before launching his super.
- When exiting the shadow realm be careful on where you'll end up, because when exiting you may face danger first hand. Best Builds--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gadgets: For gadgets Replanting will always be the better one. Now some people will defend his poison mushroom because it mutes enemies, but to make him skilled anywhere his jump gadget will always be better any mode any situation. His jump allows him to make strategical plays such as getting an important kill, or dipping out of a dangerous situation. It also works well for his super, and when using his jump he can practically work on any map.Star Powers: I was on the fence of this but, Mushroom kingdom was originally going to be my best choice since his other starpower is unnecessary since he already deals a lot of damage it's no point having comboshrooms and it's vital for Cord to focus on his health. But then, to make him work efficiently his comboshrooms would've been better. It's due to the fact is doubles up Cords OP damage output and can three or two shot most brawlers with it. Gears: Use the damage gear just to troll mythic noobs lol. But for the second one you'd be surprised but for a pro Cord build I'd recommend cooldown over shield. Cords jump gadget is a very vital thing for him to have because he can respond to any situation coming out as the victor 99% of the time, and having the gadget cooldown can make him even more annoying and versatile to deal with because he can use his jump more often. But if you don't feel comfortable with that then you can use shield gear. Good Matchups------------------------------------------------------------------------
Barley: Ah yes the first thrower in the game, and the most counterable by assassins like cord.
Dynamike: Practically the same as Barley two hits and it's back to the retirement home for him.
Sprout: This is practically a pattern, Cord does well into any thrower. Although Larry and Juju can be exceptions depending on the draft and scenario.
Mandy: Cord also counters marksmen well, in this case Mandy has weak DPS and health against Cord.
Squeak: Squeak is an average controller with low DPS and overall an attack that takes time to deal actual damage. Squeak is just slow in general and using Cord can shut him down easily
Kit: If you know, you know. Besides Kit is easy to counter in general.
El Primo: Cord does well into any outdated tank. And in the outdated tank category this goes for Primo, Bibi, Rosa, Darryl, Jacky and even Hank. These tanks do not have any survival abilities in their kit to deal with Cord, and overall Cord has enough damage to smite them on the spot. Just don't choose him into the tanks I didn't mention. Bad Matchups------------------------------------------------------------------------
R-T: R-T has been always a great anti-aggro brawler, and is the best damage dealer to shut down assassins. Even Cord who is new to the meta for a while isn't an exception against the information kiosk.
Griff: What can counter aggro brawlers? other aggro brawlers! Griff's damage is much higher than Cord, mainly because of his super being able to cook him to mushroom stew. But Griff isn't always going to be great counterpick everytime to Cord.
Chester: Chester is griff but better basically. Essentially whoever has the highest damage than Cord, instantly counters him.
Ash: You'll be surprised but, Ash's overall DPS is good enough to 1v1 a Cord. Now I know he does have some weaknesses such as a bad attack delay, but if you're a good Ash player then it won't matter at all because Ash can heal himself with his pill gadget and tank incoming shots with his rats, which are the key to countering Cord. Spawnables.
Buster: As you may know great tank counters like Cord, easily fall back to the shadow realm when facing Buster. Buster has great survivalbilities similar to Ash, and Cord can't get through him if Buster has shield. When to pick/ban-------------------------------------------------------
- Brawl Ball
- Gem grab
- Hot Zone
- Knockout
- HeistMy personal experiences:------------------------------------------------------------
Cord is overall a great all-rounder, aggro, and even anti-aggro brawler in the current meta. But it doesn't mean he'll stay for too long, right now he's a toxic brawler meaning he will be hit with heavy nerfs in the near future, and there will be more new brawlers that can deal with him easily. So max him out smartly while you can.
Game Modes
Brawl Ball
Obviously assassins would be good here, since brawl ball is fast paced game mode. Overall Cord is particularly S-tier on any BB map. His gadgets, and super make him very versatile on any BB mode at this point making him exceptional in it.
Gem Grab
Cord is a great pick on certain gem grab maps, also depending on the draft. Due to his versitality, he can play mid, lane, but he's good for backseat at mid.
Hot Zone
Cord also does well in passive modes like Hot zone, and overall has a great wallpick ability.
Heist
Despite the short range, Cord's damage, and kit is good enough to make him usable in this mode. Heist is a mix of passive and aggresive which is perfect for Cord.
Works Well With
Jae-yong
Cord has weak health overall, and having a versatile support like Jae can make him much menacing to face off against.
Gray
Gray does well assassins and any high damage dealing short ranged brawler thanks his teleport. He can also use his cane gadget to pull enemies so Cord can finish them off.
