Guide
Angelo is a long-range marksman whose movement speed is very fast and can walk on water. This guide discusses the basics, matchup tips, why this build is my best, play styles, and final recommendations. I’m also trying to push Angelo to the max tier, so wish me luck 🍀. Also, this guide is very wordy since it has tons of information. Enjoy🥰.The BasicsWater Trait🚶🌊
Angelo can walk on water. It’s simple but very effective. It makes him more versatile and helps him with being a Marksman. He can use bodies of water to reposition, escape, and attack. Since most brawlers don’t have this trait, Angelo has an advantage against most brawlers. It also lets him use his second star power, Flow, which we will get to later.Attack🏹🎯
Angelo has only 1 ammo that is chargeable by holding the attack button. He shoots an arrow that does more damage, the more his attack is charged. Angelo can't heal while charging his attack. It has a 10 tile range, and if you’re not “auto-aiming”, Angelo will show the direction of where he is aiming. His projectile speed is not as fast as Piper's, though.Since you need time to charge the arrow up, you should try and maintain distance between you and your opponent. This is necessary because Angelo doesn’t do enough DPS up close. For one ammo, he only shoots one arrow that deals 4000 damage(when fully charged and power 11), so he can’t deal with stupid assassins(no offense, assassins mains) and close-ranged brawlers that get too close to him. Also, his attack is very narrow, so I recommend practicing aim guides. In addition, you can “auto-aim” with Angelo by holding the attack button without moving it.Super☠️🟢☁
Angelo creates a poison cloud that lasts for 8 seconds and damages enemies. While in the cloud, Angelo's arrows become poisoned, dealing extra damage over time. Whoever is in the cloud will take damage. You can use it for slight area control, but it's not recommended. I would recommend you use your super for snipes or self-defense. Angelo's super makes his attacks more deadly if hit; it doubles your damage. When using it, be committed to staying in the super if you want the extra damage. When using it to snipe, make sure you put your super in a place you are the least likely to leave. This is due to the super not following you and staying in place. You can also use your super to defend yourself from brawlers who get too close to you, the poison cloud does extra damage that can hopefully help with tanks and assassins.Gadgets📗📗
Angelo has 2 different gadgets: "Stinging Flight" & "Master Fletcher"Stinging Flight🦟💨: Angelo flies into the air
for 1 second. Drains health from nearby enemies on takeoff. Has an 18-second cooldown.Master Fletcher🏹🧱: Angelo's next attack pierces enemies and the environment. Has a 14-second cooldown.Stinging Flight is overall the most versatile gadget, but both gadgets are good in their ways. Stinging Flight is a mobility gadget. It can be used to escape from dangerous situations, for additional mobility, and/or to catch up and kill low-health brawlers. Master Fletcher is useful for finishing kills or piercing damage. Since most people use and expect the Stinging Flight, if they are in LOW health and are using walls to hide, you can activate it and sneak a kill. Also, since Angelo's arrow becomes piercing, if many things/brawlers are together, you can use it to deal damage to all of them.Star Powers🌟⭐
Angelo has 2 different star powers: "Empower" & "Flow"Empower💚💚: Staying inside the Super will heal Angelo for 600 per second.Flow💨🌊Angelo gains 25% increased movement speed after entering the water.Empower is more versatile, while Flow is good in very watery maps.Empower is useful while you're in low health and/or getting pressured. Since he can't heal while charging his attack, his super can heal for him. This can help with assassins and tanks that get too close, which can hopefully save his life. You should only use Flow if the map is mostly or fully covered with water. I am not saying Flow is a bad star power. It’s good for Angelo. I am saying that Empower is too useful not to use, and you should only switch if the map is watery. The extra speed from Flow is very useful. It lets you reposition faster, which helps your offense and defense.Hypercharge😈😈😈
Angelo gets a 24% speed boost, a 25% damage boost, and a 5% shield boost. Also, if he activates his super during the hypercharge duration, your super follows
you. Make sure you take advantage of the speed and damage boost. You should play Aggressive while the hyper charge is activated, like other hyper-charges.Aiming tips🎯🎯🎯
Since Angelo’s attack is narrow, here are some tips that can improve your aim:Active, not lazy
Like other long-ranged brawlers(with narrow attacks), you should be actively moving your aim stick. This will let you not get lazy with your aim and be ready to snipe the THICK DMG arrow. It also makes it more difficult for people who pay attention to you since you don’t show exactly where you’re gonna aim.Bigger doesn’t always mean better
If you haven’t already(I’m assuming you have some experience in the game), please shrink your joysticks(Blue & red) down as much as possible.
It will help with your aim and movement a lot. For movement, it lets you change direction quicker to dodge attacks. For aiming, especially for a sharpshooter like Angelo, you can aim where you want to shoot quickly. Predicting the Enemy's Pattern
Try and know how your enemy dodges attacks and counter them.
For example, if the enemy changes directions rapidly and doesn't commit to one direction, just aim at them.
If the enemy switches direction after you attack, aim behind them.Matchups TipsEasy Targets
Angelo counters short-range and low health brawlers😁😁😁. Due to his high-burst damage with one fully-charged arrow, he could almost one-shot some brawlers with one attack. Plus, he has a very long range, reaching up to 10 tiles, countering short-range brawlers as long as they can't get close to Angelo. This is why he counters snipers & throwers(if no walls) as they are very squishy, allowing Angelo to easily kill them with arrows🏹.Tips on dealing with his counters
To be honest, to counter Angelo, all you have to understand is PRESSURE. The one thing(I believe) that generally counters snipers, really counters Angelo. Angelo requires you to be patient with him, so if you keep pressuring him, he will be able to charge his shots easily and will have to play more restricted.
This is why he gets countered by assassins, tanks, high-mobility(Max, Mortis, etc.), and spawner brawlers. They can pressure him and prevent him from fully charging his shot😬😬😬.Now, a thing to point out is you don't always have to charge it fully to make a brawler back off. Angelo does decent damage when you charge 50% or more, but feel free to poke them to prevent them from recovering health. You can charge it up a bit, depending on how close they are already. If he gets too close, use Stinging Flight and repeat the process. If your gadget is on cooldown, you can use your environment (walls🧱, waters🌊, bushes🌿, etc.) to buy you some time to wind up that arrow. You can also use your super and stay around it if you need to get defensive. In these situations, you will realize that Angelo's flexibility can come in clutch. Whether you need to play aggressive, defensive, passive, or whatever, Angelo has your back(if you know how to use him). Also, be aware if a Kit is in the match. He is a good counter against Angelo.Vs. Classes(Generally) TipsVs. Tanks🛡: Angelo will have a hard time with tanks, as they have high health that Angelo can't shred through. Plus, they can easily push you, not giving you time to charge and shoot. The thing to beat them is to STAY calm... You need to stay calm to use your environment, gadgets, and supers wisely.Vs. Assassins🔪: Angelo will have a harder time with assassins since they can close in and quickly assassinate you. Plus, depending on their assassin techniques, they can jump scare you from out of nowhere. If assassins are in the match, BE CAREFUL. Try to know where they are and stay alert. Save some of your abilities in case of assassins.Vs. Supports💚: Should be an easy matchup. Unless it's a support-sniper, then focus.Vs. Controllers🚩: Just not "sell" and you should be fine. Be aware that some controllers have abilities that can pressure you, and catch you off guard(Gene's Pull, Mr. P's spawners, etc.)Vs. Damage Dealers🥊: Keep your range. You're a sniper, not a tank that gives free super charges. Vs. Snipers🎯: Now, these types of matchups are fun(to me). As Angelo, with good dodging and pressure, you can change the fight from a sniper game to a chase. It's your choice if you want to play the sniper game or go aggro. Don't hesitate to charge your shots(unless the sniper has assassin abilities). Since most(if not all) snipers have low health, one fully-charged shot can get them VERY Low(if they're not dead). On the other hand, if you're the one getting pressured, play defensively. Use cover, speed, and shots to try and turn the tables. Vs. Throwers🧱: If they just hide behind a wall, and make sure they are in full health while dodging your shots, you can't do anything about it. Try and bait the thrower away from the wall and punish them. You can also use both of your gadgets to try and support the process: Stinging Flight when they're low enough to be auto-aimed, and Master Fletcher for damage through walls. Why I use my buildI use the most versatile build in many different situations. The Stinging Flight gadget can help with your survivability, offense, and is more solid since you don't know who you're facing exactly. Empower also helps with survivability and gives you a reason to be in your super(I don't know why you would need any more reasons, but whatever).
Now, for the gears, it's more of a personal choice and experience. Depending on the Game mode and your play style, your gear selections can vary. I chose the most agreed-upon and understandable gear combination, Shield + Damage, but 4 Gears can work for him.Shield🛡: Works for every marksman, especially low-health ones who can't tank lots of damage. Use the Shield gear for extra protection from attacks. Keep in mind that to restore your shield, you must be in max health, so if you're using this gear, create time to heal. Use this gear if you're facing fellow snipers or want extra protection.Health❤: This is a very underrated gear, but surprisingly, this gear works on Angelo. Normally, if you're going by the general rules of snipers, this gear wouldn't be touched, but Angelo is different. For a sniper, he has more health than other snipers. Also, the important reason to use this gear is to HEAL UP FASTER. Since you'll probably be charging your attacks a lot and you can't heal while charging, this gear is important for when you don't charge your arrow, to heal up faster and go back to the fight. Keep in mind, if you don't use shield gear beside it(since you'll probably use damage, right?), BE CAREFUL. Use this gear if you're okay without shield gear or want to recover health faster.Damage🥊: The most obvious one to use and works perfectly for Angelo. Since Angelo charges his attack without the ability to recover health, if he's at 50% or less health, it will give him DEADLIER damage. He already does enough burst damage when his fully charged shot + poison damage from his super, so adding even more damage to that will make Angelo's shots deadly. This gear is a MUST!Gadget Cooldown🔄: To be honest, you would probably use this gear if the map/ game mode requires it. For example, maybe in Showdown, you would use Gadget Cooldown with Stinging Flight to make sure you can get away when you need to. I haven't had experience with this gear, so I don't know if it's good or mid.Play stylesWow! That was a lot, but now it’s time to expose myself. The reason I’m telling you my play style is because I want to give you ways to play him, but depending on your play style, you can make up a different way of playing him. I also have other playstyles you can see (with the help of ChatGPT).Flexible/Versatile(Can be used in a wide variety of situations)The Risky Sniper(My current playstyle)😰😰😰I keep my distance, fully charging shots and sniping in the middle of the battlefield. I charge my arrows so much that I don't heal until I'm low and need to retreat. I am also very active and mobile. I constantly change my distance from the enemy to hit shots. Due to being active and mobile, I often have enemies chasing and pressuring so I use walls and bushes, and when I need to, use my gadget(Stinging Flight) to escape. Once I find a place to hide, that is when I fully heal up and prepare for my next enemy. This playstyle fits those who are [high-risk, high-reward], too aggressive, and solo players. The Mobile Sniper(My previous playstyle)💨💨💨I kept my distance, fully charging shots and sniping in the middle of the battlefield. I was also very active and mobile. I was also positional, finding a spot where I could use my super to snipe from far away. Sometimes, I played aggressively if I saw an opportunity. Due to being active and mobile, I often had enemies chasing and pressuring so I used walls and bushes, and when I needed to, used my gadget(Stinging Flight) to escape. This playstyle fits those who either want to be mobile or versatile. The Tactical Marksman🎯🎯🎯This play style relies on patience and precision. Someone with this playstyle would focus on position and accuracy and would take their time doing it. They would first find the perfect spot to snipe from and stay as much as possible there. It would be best if they were hidden from the battle so that they don't get pressured if spotted(btw, they still use their super to strengthen their attack). If they are pressured, they would hide away(most likely with a Stinging Flight gadget) and find a new spot. This playstyle fits those who are patient, strategic, and want to use Angelo's damage without being in the action.Situational(Works best under specific conditions or game modes)The Poisoned Guardian☠🛡🛡This play style relies on playing defensively and controlling space with your super. Someone with this playstyle would focus on using their super for area denial and defense from assassins and tanks. They would first try to get his super, find choke points, and use it while shooting shots. In case enemies get too close, they would use the Stinging Flight gadget to get away. The play style is best for maps with chokepoints. This playstyle fits those who want control while playing defensively. The Water Warden💨💦🌊This play style relies on water, literally. Someone with this playstyle would focus on using water(recommended with the Flow star power) for mobility. They use it to catch up to enemies, escape, and reposition. This play style is best for maps with lots of water. This playstyle fits those who like using water to their advantage.Useful(Effective but not reliable in every game)The Aggressive Hunter😈😈😈This play style relies on the ability to pressure, threaten, and be aggressive to your enemies. Someone with this play style would focus on creating chaos, pushing the enemies, and staying in the fight(even if they are low). This play style is useful but can be very risky if not careful or properly supported. This playstyle fits those who want to be aggressive, pressure-heavy, and make Angelo a threat to the enemy. The "Last Stand" Sniper🦸♂️🦸♂️🦸♂️This play style relies on the ability to dominate the end game. Someone with this play style would wait until the late game, then strike with full-charged shots to destroy and clutch. While waiting, they would avoid unnecessary conflicts and prepare themselves for the late game. This play style is useful for last-second clutches, but you put a lot on the line, making it stressful. This playstyle fits those who can clutch a game, survive, and be patient.Final RecommendationsAlthough there is freedom with what playstyle you can use, some playstyles work better with Angelo than others. I would recommend playing him more and/or testing out some of the play styles I mentioned. It will improve your gameplay with Angelo once you know how you most effectively play Angelo, which will help with the build, game modes, and maps you play him in.
Even though he is flexible, I won’t recommend you risk playing maps that he doesn't prefer. I recommend you play him in open, watery maps with some obstacles he could use to hide away.
Don't forget that he is a marksman, he needs range and distance. Don't be reckless with him.
Angelo has lots of potential, and although he has a high skill cap, don't underestimate him; he can be the annoying mosquito of Brawl Stars.Thank you for reading my guide, and have fun shooting cupid arrows with Angelo😘. Also, pls upvote if you support this guide. Thank you for helping me reach 8 upvotes🥰.
Game Modes

Knockout
Please ensure you play like a mosquito🦟 to your opponent but don't let them squish you like one. Use all of your abilities and your environment to survive. A trick I did was I jumped in the smoke and used my super with the Empower star power and tried and kill them before I died. My super was healing me, extending my time(Use this as a “Last Stand”(when you look like you can’t win))

Bounty
Same for Knockout but surviving is a little less serious but is still important. Ensure you use obstacles and water to your advantage.

Wipeout
Same as Bounty and Knockout.
Works Well With

Buster
Angelo struggles with close ranged brawlers so Buster could just be a bodyguard to Angelo. Angelo deal with long-ranged brawlers while Buster protects him from assassins and use his shield and his tanky health to push and pressure for Angelo.

Piper
Same with other snipers(Including Support-Snipers). I just used Piper as a reference(plus, she is one of my favorite brawlers). He can work with other snipers by getting people low and letting the sniper(s) deal with them. Also, the Support-Snipers(Byron, Gus, etc.) can buff/heal Angelo, helping him engage more successfully.

R-T
He can mark enemies so that Angelo’s arrow is more deadly to them. Angelo already does lots of damage with one arrow, so R-T can indirectly buff his arrow. R-T can also deal with assassins very well with his super, and has tanky health, so Angelo can also be defended by him.

8-Bit
Although they both are at opposite speeds, and Angelo can't help him speed up; 8-bit can make Angelo a beast to deal with. Especially if he uses the "Boosted Booster" star power, Angelo(if the shot is fully charged) can deal 6k. And that's not including if he has his super... and Damage Gear.Normal Shot: 4k
Normal Poisoned Shot: 6k
Damage Geared Shot: 4.6k
Damage Geared Poisoned Shot: 6.9k
"Boosted Booster" shot: 6k
"Boosted Booster" Poisoned Shot: 9k
"Boosted Booster" + Damage Gear shot: 6.9k
"Boosted Booster" + Damage Gear Poisoned Shot: 10,350 damageHopefully, I didn't mess up on the math. I will check it.
